Hello friends!

I've had a very busy start to 2011. I started teaching classes at The Art Center of Highland Park and it's going great! I am teaching two beginning metalsmithing classes, so if you've always wanted to learn how to make jewelry, join us!

I am also designing a lot of new pieces for 2011. You'll see more gold this year in my line. As well as some great custom and semi-custom pieces.  And color! I love color! I'll be showing more enamel pieces which I've fired in a kiln to get beautiful colors. If you have a favorite color combo, be sure to let me know.

Thank you to everyone for your unwavering support. I had an awesome turnout at the Open House on Wednesday! Awesome! Now, I’m updating the website. I’ll be adding new pieces soon to replenish what I’ve sold.

I created a new popular Yoga line of jewelry that sold out at my show. I made eco-friendly necklaces and bracelets out of Sterling Silver and hemp (that won’t get caught when you are in your Down Dog), in great Spring colors. I’ll be adding that new line to my website as I make more. Probably at the end of the month.

The Blossom Collection was very popular. Especially the long Posie necklaces. In fact, I have quite a few orders I need to fill on those. I’ll add the full selection of available colors here soon.

Sorry I had only one of the Sterling Silver Rectangular Pendant necklaces. I’ll be making more of those based on popular demand! However, they will be slightly different so you don’t see yourself coming and going!

I have some cute new stamps that I am going to play with including an owl, branch, stars, lotus flower. Very cute! And along that peaceful nature theme, I’ll be making more of my tweet little birdie jewelry too.

Well, I’m going to try my hand at it. My husband has been telling me for about 3 years that I need to have a blog. So here it is.

I am constantly inspired by colors and patterns and other artists. My friend Jen has a blog called Vintage Bleu and I’ve been totally inspired by her. She finds the funkiest inspirations. She turned me on to a book called Patterns by Tricia Guild. I’ve only gotten through a few pages and I LOVE it.

Today, this is my favorite page.

And tomorrow, it might be something different. I try to apply that same approach when making jewelry. So sometimes, when my collections seem a little haphazard, please understand that they are not. They are eclectic. I love trying different techniques and playing with color. I hope you do too!

Did you make any resolutions this year? I did. I resolve to be more organized. That includes my personal and (semi) professional life. I have big plans for hip mama’s jewelry. And I’m going a little crazy. But good crazy! I love everything about Christmas. Now that my two shows are done, I can focus on shopping for my family. And who doesn’t love shopping? Speaking of shopping…are you done yet? What can I help you with? I’ll be updating my website with some of the jewelry I have in stock since the current products are mostly sold out. Gotta act quick on those one-of-a-kind items.

My biggest sellers this year are my Sterling Silver handmade pendants and my Bottle Cap Necklaces for boys and girls. The pendants are one of a kind. I am actually making more this afternoon to post on the website. And I’ll have more Bottle Cap choices this week as well. Check out all your fashion mags and you’ll notice everyone is layering their jewelry this season. Necklace and bracelets alike. And I love this trend. It really allows you to show your style. I like mixing colored glass beaded bracelets with more sophisticated Swarovski crystal bracelets. I’m having a hard time keeping these bracelets in stock, but check back soon and you’ll have lots of styles to choose from here.

And color! You know I love colorful jewelry. Like this combo shown here. Yellow is a great color this season and I love mixing it with a garnet red as you’ll notice in the earrings and Daisy Necklace. Be sure to check it out!

Flowers are a big motif in jewelry this season. Look for them as bold pendants, vintage pins, earrings and cuff bracelets. I have a few listed that are one-of-a-kind made from vintage pin pieces from the 60’s and 70’s. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

I am thrilled to see so much color in all the new spring fashions. The big ones this year are yellow, green and purple. So if you say you always wear black, then throw on some funky accessories in bold bright colors. Just think of Angelina Jolie at the Oscars…black dress with the emerald green jewelry. It popped and made her look even more gorgeous! Not that she needed any help.

This year is a big year for me. I’ll be turning the big 4-0! I can’t believe it. I feel good about it though. I’m right where I am supposed to be!

I’ve been pouring over the latest fashion mags. Can’t say that I’m really excited about much they are showing EXCEPT the jewelry and accessories (I love handbags!). The trend is still on long statement necklaces. I will be listing some new ones over the next week or so, including the ever popular necklace/bracelet combo. It’s a steal. They range in price from $50 to $64 and can be worn 3 different ways!

Rings are still hot. I love this trend. It’s the easiest way to add new life to an old outfit!

It’s that time again. Time to take a moment and enjoy the holidays. I love everything about Christmas! I always wonder how early is too early to put up my decorations and how late is too late to take them down. Hmmm…

I’m not usually one to make New Year’s resolutions. It seems like I’m always trying to be more organized (doesn’t usually work) and eat better (Portillo’s hamburgers are grilled, right?) but that’s no fun. So this year, I decided to make a resolution that is fun. I’m going to try to feel better on the inside and look better on the outside. I’m going to break out of my Midwestern rut and wear clothes and jewerly that are a little more expressive and fun. Easier said than done? We’ll see. So with that in mind, I’m working on some colorful trendy pieces that will brighten up even the grayest Chicago day. I challenge you to give it a try. You just might surprise yourself!
